Concert Work
At its root my work values surrender, intellect, and Athleticism. My hope is that those who see my work feel that they can transcend their own physicality through the emotionality of the choreography. I create my work through the use of score, contemporary and modern dance/improvisation practices, postmodern ideas of simplicity, and dance as a form of research. I love inquiry, and uphold the idea that research, through the methodology of choreography, produces new forms of embodiment, greater connection to self and others, and the accessibility to new physical and mental practices.

A work inspired by my grandma Joan. This pieces dissects the four phases of grief I was oscillating between during my grieving process after her passing in May of 2020: denial, depression, love and memory, and presence. For inspiration I used personal items from my grandma: our letters, photos, memories, her fashion sense and jewelry, she wore this marble ring everyday, and most importantly her curiosity, humor, and love of life to create my movement vocabulary. This was my first solo dance film.

And in turn can this practice help achieve the psychological “flow” state? The process of cloud formations and the transition of one of the ten cloud types into the next serves as the score or sequence of the piece.
