Dancer Cross-Training and Injury Prevention
Do you want to become the Best Dancer you can be?
I started dancing at 7 years old and instantly it became my life. I had the passion, the work ethic, and the strength, but unfortunately I was not gifted with turnout/rotation, flexibility, or freedom in my joints. When I was 12, I started having a lot of hip pain due to my impingement. After, I completed physical therapy I started pilates, cross-training, and other somatic modalities to help with the pain, and over the last 10 years I have completely transformed by body. I no longer am bound by my lack of “natural” gifts. I have more freedom, flexibility, and strength.
Over the last couple of years, I have created numerous training programs for individual dancers and studios at large to help increase range of motion through joint tracking, myofascial release techniques, core and balance work, functional training and specific stretching. I have found that there are four different places on the body that naturally tend to be tight, overworked, or suffer from muscular imbalance. Through releasing and strengthening these four zones the dancers I have worked with have found new heights within their technique (literally and figuratively).
Every body is different, thus, every dancer has specific needs in terms of their cross-training and maintenance routine. I will help you find where your muscular imbalances are and work with you to not only correct them but find more strength and flexibility than ever before. Whether you struggle with a shallow plié, a gripping quadricep during extensions, a tight low back, or lack of endurance, I will help you become the best dancer you can be!
